MoRUS – the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space in New York – is exhibiting works of art from the Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS) for community service. It is intended that monies raised from this exhibition will be put toward Hurricane Sandy Relief. MoRus is also working with squat residents to rescue items that have been flooded, such as a bike generator that OWS members use during their sit-ins. Currently, the bike is being used to enable the community to access free mobile phone charging. The museum said: “MoRUS has set up Occupy Wall Street bike generators on Avenue C between 9th and 10th Streets. For the past two days, volunteer riders have been pedaling as crowds of people gather to charge up their cell phones. For many people, this has been the first time they’ve been able to contact loved ones after Hurricane Sandy hit.” Clearly organizations and individuals in the Big Apple are banding together to help post-Hurricane Sandy.

Historic Beacon Theater
The Beacon Theater, at 2124 Broadway between 74th and 75th Streets, is the older sister to Radio City Music Hall. Just like RCMH, the Beacon was the vision of Samuel “Roxy” Rothafel, the legendary theatrical impresario of the ‘Roaring Twenties.’
The distinctive Art Deco style of the Beacon, designed by the great Chicago architect Walter Ahlschlager, makes the Beacon one of the most magnificent buildings of its kind in New York. The fact that it was designated as a national landmark in 1979 and is on the National Register of Historic Places attests to its unique beauty and historic importance.
The Beacon Theater opened its doors in 1929 and is known for having incredible acoustics. The sound-system was so well designed that the original system is still in use to today, still providing near-perfect acoustics for the pleasure of the audience.
Such entertainment luminaries as the Rolling Stones, Jerry Garcia, Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Radiohead, and Queen have performed at the Beacon. In October 2006 Bill Clinton concluded the celebration of his 60th birthday at the Beacon with a private Rolling Stones concert.

Take a Cruise Around Manhattan
The centralized locations of Shimmie Horn’s Triumph Hotels make it easy to see many of New York’s most beloved attractions. One of my favorite activities whenever I visit New York is the romantic, fun and educational Circle Line Tours around the Island of Manhattan.
Not all out-of-towners are aware that Manhattan is really an island, connected to the other four boroughs of New York and the mainland by many bridges. Due to this happy fact it is possible to completely encircle the world’s most famous island entirely by boat; and that is the idea behind Circle Line Tours.
Circle Line offers 4 types of sightseeing cruises ranging in length from a quick 75 minutes to the full three hour tour. Cruises leave from Pier 83 at 42nd Street and 12th Avenue, which happens to be only a few minutes from Shimmie Horn’s Iroquois Hotel, located at 44th Street off of 6th Avenue. Next time you are in New York, consider taking a Circle Line Tour. You won’t be disappointed.
