Bookstore chain Shakespeare & Co. is about to open up in two new locations in New York City: one in Greenwich Village, the other on the Upper West Side. They are to take the same shape as of the existing ones on the Upper East Side but will also feature their very own “Espresso Book Machine,” which is able to print “bookstore-quality paperbacks in the time it takes to brew an espresso, so that any book not in stock can be quickly accessed and printed on the spot.” As well, writers are able to self-publish their works through the machine!
According to company CEO Dane Neller:
My vision for Shakespeare & Co. has always been to create the biggest little bookshop in the world. Each new bookstore should be rooted in the local community and offer a cultural sanctuary where customers can escape from their daily routines, turn off their smart phones, relax, unwind, and indulge in the luxury of reading.
