National Meatball Day

Next week we get the opportunity to celebrate National Meatball Day. But, apart from having spaghetti and meatball (or a similar alternative) for dinner on March 9th, how can one adequately mark this occasion?

In Manhattan, thanks to Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, there is a wonderful way to mark this date.  Celebrators can get a special meatball there on March 9 from 11.30am to 10.00pm.  And it will be a meatball to remember (which it should be for the $100 price tag which also comes with a glass of 2012 Prunotto Barolo wine).

The meatball is most fancy and is made using the finest ingredients including: Wagyu beef, truffle caciocavallo cheese, foie gras and winter truffles.  Rather than traditional tomato sauce it is doused in a creamy shallot and Champagne sauce.
